Miss Amanda Victorine Wong-Powell  MBChB Sheffield MRCS Edinburgh

Medical Director

Miss Wong-Powell studied at the University of Sheffield for her medical degree. Upon graduation, she embarked on a surgical career. She has extensive experience in teaching and demonstrating Anatomy. Throughout her career, she has always had a strong interest in teaching for medical students and junior doctors and has organised several teaching courses. She is also currently doing a PgCert in Medical Education with the University of Dundee. She has completed four years of Trauma and Orthopaedics and attained the post of a Specialist Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Most recently, she has accepted the offer of a run-through training post in Occupational Medicine which will allow more time for her interest in Medical Education.


Mr. Michael Wong-Powell BSc(Hons) Imperial College

Managing Director / IT Director

Mr. Wong-Powell read Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College of Science and Technology, London. After university he started a company dedicated to the embryonic field of computer videogame design and real-time simulation, which grew to employ over 40 staff. In 2003 he started a digital multimedia production facility and a digital media publishing company which he retains an interest in. Mr. Wong-Powell is Managing Director and also responsible for Meducatus' IT and website strategy.


Dr. Shilen A. Patel MA (Hons) MBBS University Of London

Communications Director

Dr. Patel's pre-clinical studies were commenced at Cambridge, and he finished his clinical years at St Georges in London. Throughout medical school he always enjoyed the basic sciences and applying this knowledge to clinical practice. He has always enjoyed teaching students informally on the ward, and has been involved in designing mock OSCE’s for final year medical students. Dr. Patel is currenty working as a Core Surgical Trainee with a Trauma and Orthopaedics interest at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.


Dr. Shenbana Bagirathan BMedSci Nottingham, BMBS Nottingham

Operations Director

Dr. Bagirathan's favourite module in medical school was always anatomy, and after early theatre experiences combined with her creative flair, she was soon pursuing a career in plastic surgery. She is currently working as a Core Surgical Trainee in the East Midlands, and plans to apply for plastic surgery training posts in order to fulfil this ambition, whilst being involved in medical education.


Mr. Michael Petrie  MBChB Sheffield MRCS Edinburgh

Partnership Liaison

Mr. Petrie really enjoyed studying medicine in Sheffield. After graduation he stayed within South Yorkshire for his foundation years. He has continued his core surgical training within the east midlands deanery, currently working as a CT2 in Trauma & Orthopaedics at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. He has always had a keen interest in informal teaching of students and junior doctors and has attended Teach the Teachers course to further develop these skills.


Mr. Faiz Shivji  BMedSci, BM BS, MRCS England

Academic Liaison

Mr. Shivji graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2009, and completed his Foundation training in the East Midlands Deanery. He is currently in his 2nd year of Core Surgical Training, and hopes to pursue a career in Orthopaedics. Throughout university and his career, Faiz has been enthusiastic about teaching. He has completed courses in teacher training aimed specifically at teaching Doctors, and has applied these skills in organised teaching sessions for medical students, junior doctors, and healthcare associated professionals. Faiz has also published educational articles and an eBook focused on examination and practical techniques.
