SC06 - Minor Surgery for Primary Care

SC06 - Minor Surgery for Primary Care - 2014 - date to be confirmed - Sheffield, South Yorkshire

This course is suitable for:
  • Any medical professionals wishing to start skin surgery
  • Nurses, GP registrars or GPs who want to perform skin surgery procedures.
  • Improvers seeking a refresher course
Important attributes for any GP undertaking skin surgery include sound clinical judgment as well as proficient practical skills. During an operation the surgeon needs to be confident, knowledgeable, safe and up to date with current techniques and materials.
This course aims to cover the complete journey of skin surgery with a series of lectures and practical sessions. It will move from explaining the procedure to the patient, consent, injection techniques, incisions and dissection through to closing the wound with a choice of suturing methods. This course will be very interactive and offer plenty of hands on opportunities.
We are pleased to be able to provide an excellent ratio of tutors to delegates with no more than 1:6, meaning participants can work at their own pace and at a level to suit their individual needs. In addition, the combination of instruments and sutures provided on the course (which are the same as those used in plastic surgery), along with the fresh animal skin allows us to deliver an extremely realistic surgical experience.
As the Skin Surgery course relates to professional development for GPs, 6 CPD points can be claimed as per RCGP guidelines.
